Roma Schools is one of the best ranked schools based in Uthiru, Nairobi. Today the school is suffering a big blow from the office of Data Protection Commissioner.
This is after the school management failed to comply with the Data Protection Act.
Reading a statement released on Tuesday 26th September 2023, Roma school posted minors’ photos without parental consent. Following the violation of the Act, the institution has been fined Sh4.5 Million one of the highest fines ever levied against an institution according to the Commissioner.
Roma School, an Educational Institution based in Uthiru has been fined 4,550,000 Kenya Shillings for posting Minors’ pictures without parental consent.

This fine on Roma School is aimed to also teach other institutions a lesson on using minors’ data without parents consent.
This sends a message to schools and other facilities handling minors; data to obtain consent from parents/guardians befor processing minors’ data.

The school management through the director has however said he had not received any complaint about the release of the minors’ images adding that he will be visiting the office of data protection commissioner to follow up on the matter.
