Pickup transporting miraa involved in an accident in Kirinyaga

A pickup that was transporting miraa on Saturday was involved in an accident. The vehicle that was driving at a very high speed lost control along Mwea – Embu Road in Kirinyaga County.

After confirmation of the incident by the regional police, no injuries were reported. The loaded saloon car was with a driver and two passengers.

According to the eyewitness, the driver was trying to escape the road rumbles, hence causing head-on coalition with an oncoming car. However, there were no casualties in the other car.

Furthermore, the witness confessed that there has been an increase of accidents in the region mainly caused by miraa transporters who do not respect the road rules and regulations.

Regional (Mwea-east Sub-county) police commander James Mutua has sounded a warning to miraa drivers against reckless driving. He also warned residents from taking action into their own hands.

The two vehicles involved in an accident along Mwea – Embu Road in Kirinyaga are currently at Wanguru police station.
