2024 School Calendar, Opening, Term 1,2,3, Mid-Term Breaks and Closing, Date – PDF Download

The Ministry of Education Headed by Cabinet Secretary Cs Machogu has released the schools’ academic calendar comprising of Terms 1, 2 and 3 Opening, mid-term and closing year for the 2024 academic year.

The unveiled 2024 School calendar will have pre-primary, primary, secondary schools and teachers training colleges in brackets.

According to the 2024 school calendar Kenya;

1. Term One

Term one 2024 for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary schools will begin on January 8th, 2024 and close on April 5th, 2024. The term will be packed with 13 weeks of learning and a three days mid-term break after which schools will close for 3 weeks.

Ont he other hand, teacher’s colleges will open for term one from 8th January to 5th April.

2. Term Two

After a three weeks break, Learning in Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary schools will resume on April 29th and end on August 2, 2023. Term two will cwill be the longest term with 14 weeks of learning. In between, learners will enjoy a mid-term break set for June 2023. After 14 weeks of learning, Learners will then go on another 3 weeks holiday.

Teacher Colleges: Term two will commence 29th April and will run until 2nd August 2023.

3. Term Three

Term three for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary schools remains the shortest and final term in the Kenya’s academic calendar released by the ministry for the year 2024. The term will have only 9 weeks with no half term. Term three will commence on 26th August 2024 to October 25th 20-23. After the end of term three, there will follow the national exams period for Kenya primary School Education Assessment popular KPSEA, Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment KILEA and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education 2024.

Teachers Colleges: Term three runs from 26th August to 8th November.
