Housing Levy Kenya 2023 Explained as Government backdates to recover July collection

The government of Kenya through the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development-Nairobi has backdated the collection of Housing Levy Kenya to 1st July 2023.
This is to cover the one month period at which the new Kenya Kwanza Finance Act 2023 was suspended by court.
The Housing Levy Kenya is a mandatory contribution now. This will see all employees part ways with 1.5% of their monthly income.
The Housing Levy Kenya 2023 was heckled by Kenyans and other opposition leaders, saying it is a burden to Kenyans in relation to this high cost of living.

The Housing Levy Kenya under the Finance Act 2023 was challenged by Senator Okiya Omtatah. Despite the court uplifting the ban, Okiya Omtatah still holds that it is and is unconstitutional.
