Former Attorney general Sir Charles Njonjo is Dead

Njonjo is the son of the late Josiah Njonjo, a colonial paramount chief and one of the foremost collaborators of British rule in Kenya.

Charles Mugane Njonjo is a first Attorney General of Kenya (1963 – 1979) and Minister of Constitutional Affairs. Charles Njonjo is also popularly referred to as “The Duke of Kabeteshire”. He was the only serving member of the Kenya first cabinet 1963.

Charles Njonjo entered into parliament in April 1980 after retiring as Attorney General at the age of 60, a post in which he had served for 17 years.

Njonjo’s family has denied and said this is a rumour going round on social media.
