Teachers Service Commission (TSC) statement on Massive recruitment of teachers.

TSC is the independent government organisation that hires and monitors teachers in the country. It is mandated to recruit new teachers according to the Kenyan constitution.

Speaking to the Kenyans during the release of KCPE results, TSC Chair Dr Nancy Macharia pointed out that education sector needs more than 100,000 teachers to facilitate 100 percent transition from primary to secondary level.

She however said according to the yearly budget, their hands are tied to recruiting 5000 teachers only in every year.

After the statement, some blogger and news writers misinterpreted the information. Some popular blog Kenyans.co.ke, Soko Directory and Phoenix publishers posted headlines “TSC announces mass recruitment of teachers.”

Teachers Service Commission has asked Kenyans to ignore the headlines. The employer took a screenshot and stamped it with a red bold statement “FAKE.”

TSC Recruitment is always posted on the official Teachers Service Commission Website https://www.tsc.go.ke/. Kenyans are urged to keep on confirming any information absorbed from Internet to avoid being mislead.

On the TSC portal, all information is available including the Recruitment process, requirements, and interview centres. It is also important for teachers to note that employment of teachers is free and anyone who requests for money is a Conman.
