Pemba Community end of Statelessness as Ruto awards Citizenship

Pemba Community has now been granted citizenship after a long time of statelessness in Kenya. The main reason as to why the Pemba Community could not be awarded citizenship was as a result of lack of being well organised.

President William Ruto said he will give the Pemba Community the identity they deserve as any other Kenyan Citizen. This move will help them access to other government and Public services.

“This, effectively ends Pemba Community statelessness and margilisation that has lasted for approximately 100 years.’

This was one of the campaign promises by President William Ruto. After awarding Pemba Community citizenship, President William Ruto also issued Tittle Deeds to Karisa Maitha Stadium in Kilifi County.
