Government Of Kenya releases Money for the Elderly worth Ksh. 16.7 Billion

Nairobi, Kenya 22nd June 2023, Deputy President William Ruto overseas the disbursement on Money for the Elderly and Vulnerable worth Ksh. 16.7 Billion.

Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Cs Florence Bore has today joined Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the government disburses Kshs. 16,725,856,000 for the Elderly and vulnerable people in the country.

The money that was channelled to the ministry is aimed to reach over 1 million beneficiaries registered under the Inua Jamii programme.

"Joined His Excellency the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the government disburses money for the Elderly and vulnerable. Government has released through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Kenya Shillings Sixteen Billion, Seven Hundred and Twenty-Five Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six Thousand Shillings (Kshs. 16,725,856,000) for payment to over one million beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii programme."

The government has however promksed to remain committed to supporting the most vulnerable members in society.

Florence Bore says her Ministry has continued to implement the consolidated cash transfer programme popularly known as Inua Jamii. This is a flagship project under the Social Pillar of Vision 2030 and a key priority area in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.

The elderly and the vulnerable people will receive the money as soon as the ministry disburses.
