A sample of 2023 KPSEA Examination Answer Sheet. The Sample sheet was released by Kenya National Education Council ahead of the National examination scheduled to begin on Monday, 28th Nov.
Candidate’s Assessment No and Bio Data
In this section the candidate is expected to fill in the unique assessment number issues by KNEC upon registration. The learners are expected to be have mastered the 10 digit number and if in doubt the center invigilators will help. One is expected to cross the Letter and numbers but the mark shouldn’t go beyond the brackets.
“The OMR forms come with already pre-printed with the index number, names of the candidate and the center name and they are subject specific. The candidates are therefore expected to verify that the forms that they have been issued with have their correct index number, names and center name and that they are for the correct subject.” reads part of KPSEA sample papers marking scheme.

Absent Learner
The second section is for the supervisor. The supervisor will only place a mark in this section in the event that the learner is absent. The supervisor places a mark across A following the same instructions issued on the instructions for the supervisor.
“The OMR form has a provision for shading absent candidates at the top right hand side. This part is clearly indicated for official use only and invigilator(s) should shade this part for candidates who are absent. Candidates should not shade this part.” Check the Sample below.
Supervisor Instructions on Personalized OMR forms.
- Candidates should handle the personalized OMR forms with care and not write or put marks on any part of the OMR form shading the correct answers.
- The OMR forms come with already pre-printed with the index number, names of the candidate and the center name and they are subject specific. The candidates are therefore expected to verify that the forms that they have been issued with have their correct index number, names and center name and that they are for the correct subject.
- The OMR form has a provision for shading absent candidates at the top right hand side. This part is clearly indicated for official use only and invigilator(s) should shade this part for candidates who are absent. Candidates should not shade this part.
- The supervisor must ensure that the candidates are properly guided on how to shade the answers on the OMR form. This should be done during the rehearsal day.
- In case where a candidate misses a personalized OMR form, then the candidate will answer on the question paper then submit for manual marking.
