KENYA ONLINE JOBS: AJIRA DIGITAL PROGRAM

The Ajira Digital Program has been set up to bridge the gap between skills demand and lack of jobs.

The program aims to introduce young people to online work and provide the tools, training and mentorship needed for young people to work and earn a decent wage. Spearheaded by the Ministry of ICT, the project is a collaboration in partnership with the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Education, Foreign Affairs, Sports, Culture and the Arts, partners in the civil society, development groups and private sector.

Ajira Digital Program seeks to position Kenya as a choice labour destination for multinational companies as well as encourage local companies and public sector to create digital work.

The main objectives are to raise the profile of online work; Promote a mentorship and collaborative learning approach to finding online work; Provide Kenyans with access to online work, and finally Promote Kenya as a destination for online workers.

Ajira Digital Program comprises the Constituency Innovation Hubs (CIH), through which local youth will have access to free wifi and workspaces and the Ajira Digital Portal www.ajiradigital.go.ke where youth can enrol for training and have access to online resources to get them started, and access to free studios where the creative youth can record their talent.
