Government Announce: 18th August 2022 is the Official opening date after Presidential results announcement in Kenya
As schools remain closed to pave way for Political moments, Learners remain the highly affected individual in the society.
Fist the shock came after the Ministry of Education closed the school early to allow campaign and election process. Professor George Magoha urged all school heads to closed schools on Tuesday 2nd August 2022.
This followed an assurance that learning will resume one day after elections that were held on 9th August 2022. All schools were to open on 11th August 2022.
After Kenyans exercised their political rights on 9th and counting started, Magoha again hit the Education industry announced a slight change on the opening dates.
The major reason being delayed announcement of the presidential result and winner by IEBC, schools could not be proper to open on 11th.
This forced the government to switch the opening date to 15th/8/2022. Just to prove this could not be possible, the ministry has again announced a new opening date for all schools in Kenya. This will be on Thursday, 18th/8/2022.
Covid-19 Wasted time recovery
As the had announced earlier on, Covid-19 had largely affected the Academic calendar 2020. This could take the nation approximately 3 years to recover the time Wasted.
As the recovery process is still in process, Politics has not been left behind being the other factor affecting learning in the country.
KCPE, KCSE and KPSEA Examinations
As learners remain indoors waiting for the announcement of the next president of the Republic of Kenya, the highly disadvantaged learners are the KCPE, KCSE and KPSEA candidates.
According to the Kenya National Examination Council, this exams are planned to be held in later days of November and better part of December.
The Examination Council has remained intact saying their will be no slight change that will be made on KPSEA cbc grade 6 Assessment timetable, KCPE and KCSE 2022/23.
